  14. Page 121: "Oh Pony, I thought we'd lost you... like we did mom and dad."
This is Darry speaking to Ponyboy after he comes back from Windrixville and has left the hospital. This disagrees with the previous quote (above) as it show that maybe there is feeling in his house after all

Page 164 - "Man - Darry grinned and put his arm across Soda's shoulders - This is one kid brother i don't have to worry about" - This shows that in Darry's point of view Sodapop is less troublesom than Ponyboy.

    "We're all we've got left"
Quote said by Soda but refers to Darry and Ponyboy.

    Pg 3
"since mum and dad were killed in a auto wreck the 3 of us had to stick together"
This show that the three brothers have to be close because of what happened to them. This also shows how when ponyboy says "had to stick together" you get the feeling that its not a choice but more of what they feel their parents wanted. This relates to Ponyboy, Soda and Darry.

    Pg 54
“Darry getting old before his time trying to run a family and on to two jobs”
This implies that although Darry is a strict person he obviously cares enough to try and hold the family together as well as keeping his jobs but what people may really feel is that he should be enjoying himself at his age and that is what Ponyboy means by saying getting old before his time.

  23. Page 16 - "He never hollered at sodapop-not even when he dropped out of school or got us tickets for speeding. He just hollered at me" This shows that Darry seems to favour Sodapop over Ponyboy

    Darry
"You two do up the dishes"
This imediatly shows that Darry is in charge of the family now that their parents have died, and the fact that Soda and Ponyboy do what they're told show that the respect him and now that he is the one in charge.

  27. page 169 - "He went on to call Curly every unprintable name under the sun - in Tim's way of thinking, terms of affection" This quote shows that the greasers don't relly know how to express their emotions

This shows that Ponyboy cares for his brothers and familly very much, and the fact that he was asking for them shows that he loves them and wants them to be with him as it makes him feel better.

  29. Page 100,
    Darry,
"Darry hasn't got the slightest notion where you're at and it is nearly killing him."
This shows that even thought he appears to be cold and heartless really, he is just as human as any of us, and he really is sorry for hitting Ponyboy. The full stop at the end shows that Soda is being serious, and it really is killing Darry not knowing where his brother is, when as if it had been an exclamation mark, it would have looked as if Soda was making a joke or being metaphoric but he's not.

  30. Page 99,
    Darry,
"Darry is awful sorry he hit you. You know he didn't mean it."
Darry is always shown as the strongest bravest member of the familly, but he really does care about his brothers and even though he lost his temper and Ponyboy should have been home on time, he knows that he shouldn't have hit Ponyboy and that he regrets being so cross.
