    this shows that pony boy is exposed to concept beyhond what he should be expected to understand.

    This quote shows that Darry has grown up at an accelerated pace due to his heavy work load.

    This shows that Darry’s has lost typical childhood mannerisms in order to grow up and undertake many responsibilities which he wouldn’t normally have to worry about.

    “Darry’s getting old before his time trying to run a family and hang on to two jobs, never having any fun.”
    This shows that Darry is loosing his rightful childhood enjoyment due to the responsibilities of taking care of a family which his family left behind.

    This shows that Cherry is unsure about where the fast pace journey of being a teenager is going to take her, or whether or not she really wants to continue into the unknown.

    This when they are in the church in Windrixville just after Johnny has cut off most of Ponyboy's hair.
    This shows that maybe Ponyboy is not quite ready to completely grow up and take everything into his own hands.

    page 216 Ponyboy "I don't mind dying now. It's worth it. It's worth saving those kids. Their lives are worth more than mine, they have more to live for" (Jonny's letter to Pony) This shows growning up and realising that other peoples lives are more to live for if your close to the end. This implies end of live realisation

    This is Ponyboy quickly going through his life and he is talking about Darry.
    This shows that Darry obviouosly cares for Ponyboy or the exact opposite. He could be percieved as working longer to help them to survive or he could use it as a relief from his life at home.

    "Jonny and Dallas were our friends, too, but you don't just stop living because you lose someone. I thought you knew that by now" (Darrel telling Ponyboy) Showing that by saying a comment you don't just help the person your talking to you, you then grow up yourself. For Darry and Pony page 210

    This is talking of the fact that Darry has had a great responsibility placed upon even at his tender age.

    This shows that Ponyboy has realised that Darry has had to grow up a lot quicker than most people and he still feels vunerable sometimes.

    This quote shows that ponyboy is growing up and realising, from his experiences, that he needs to take a bit more responsibility for things. It also shows that Darry has had to work very hard for Pony without getting much in return
