This shows that he doesn't look upon them as a disgrace to the neighbourhood, but instead that you grow used to them and learn to get along with them.

This shows that maybe Ponyboy is not quite ready to completely grow up and take everything into his own hands.

Their lives are worth more than mine, they have more to live for" (Jonny's letter to Pony) This shows growning up and realising that other peoples lives are more to live for if your close to the end. This implies end of live realisation

ReplyDeleteThis is Ponyboy quickly going through his life and he is talking about Darry.
This shows that Darry obviouosly cares for Ponyboy or the exact opposite. He could be percieved as working longer to help them to survive or he could use it as a relief from his life at home.
"Jonny and Dallas were our friends, too, but you don't just stop living because you lose someone. I thought you knew that by now" (Darrel telling Ponyboy) Showing that by saying a comment you don't just help the person your talking to you, you then grow up yourself. For Darry and Pony page 210

This shows that Ponyboy has realised that Darry has had to grow up a lot quicker than most people and he still feels vunerable sometimes.
